MerseyAid

Let’s put an end to suffering world-wide!

On the 28th of January MerseyAid was able to organise a bags of love day and an auction at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Prenton.

With the tireless effort of Talitha and Jayne the day was an amazing success.

The Church was set up the night before so that volunteers could set to work as soon as they arrived on the Saturday morning. Individual tables were laid out with items needed for each bag of love. We had a wealth of people turn up to help including children making it a family focused day. People set to writing letters, filling pencil cases, creating bags of sweets and in total 474 bags of love were made!

In the cafe, volunteers sold homemade cakes, toast and hot chocolate throughout the day. People also arrived with donations of clothing and other essential items.

In the afternoon a cake and art auction was held.  All items were donated by the artist.  It was a gripping afternoon with some fantastic pieces of art and some truly delicious cakes. The auction itself raised £1,118.50!!

In total the day raised an amazing £1500 and with so many bags of love being made it was a phenomenal day.

Thanks to everyone who supported the cause whether it was baking, painting, serving, tidying up, donating items.

Special thanks to Jayne and Talitha for organising the event.
